The Birthplace of Modern Fragrance is in the Middle East

Fragrance played a significant role in early Islam, particularly in the Middle East, where it was deeply ingrained in religious practices and daily life. The use of fragrances was encouraged by the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and considered part of the Sunnah (Prophetic Tradition). This tradition cemented fragrances as both a cultural and religious staple in the region. Islam has a strong link between fragrance and spirituality, associating it with paradise and the divine. The Prophet Muhammad’s appreciation for pleasant fragrances and his emphasis on cleanliness and personal hygiene further solidified the use of fragrances within Islamic practice. Islamic teachings emphasize cleanliness, and fragrances were seen as a way to maintain physical and spiritual purity.
